East Lothian Council will be undertaking carriageway resurfacing works at the above locations, commencing Monday, 9th June 2025, for approximately three weeks, weather permitting.
To comply with current health and safety legislation, it will be necessary to close the road in sections and restrict on-street parking during the works. To minimise disruption, the works will be carried out in phases as follows:

• Phase 1 - Preston Road to No.43 High Street: Mon 9th to Fri 13th June

• Phase 2 - No.43 High Street to The Square: Mon 16th to Fri 20th June

• Phase 3 - The Square to Station Road: Mon 23rd to Fri 27th June

A signed diversion route will be in place. Vehicular access for residents and businesses will be maintained outside working hours (08:00 to 16:30 Monday to Thursday and 08:00 to 13:00 Friday) and at weekends where practicable. If you require to use your vehicle during working hours, please park outside the extent of the works.
Emergency service vehicle will always have access. Refuse and recycling collections will be undertaken before 8:30 AM where practical. Therefore, please ensure your bins/boxes are out by 7:00 AM on collection days.
Bus service No. 120 will use the diversion route as shown on the plan below.

For their own safety, pedestrians should not enter the works area. Please note that during the resurfacing works, the existing surface will be sprayed with a black bituminous emulsion which becomes very sticky. Please be aware (and make other family members aware) that this material should be avoided as it will readily stick to soles of footwear, bicycle tyres, petís paws, etc., and is difficult to remove.
