Bridge being repaired.

An extra sign at the top of Preston Road has been requested, as it would be annoying to get all the way down there to find you had to come back and go round Phantassie to proceed along the John Muir Way!

The bridge is going to have new hand rails and decking. The handrails will be galvanized metal tubing with galvanized mesh attached and the decking will be a thick fibreglass mesh

Starting Monday 12th (weather permitting) this is a short-term closure to ensure the bridge remains open for the longer term.

There may be a few people who will be upset to lose the nice old timber structure, but sadly the current plans are about a quarter of the price and should actually last very much longer than the wood. If necessary the bridge could be painted white (or another colour), but it would have to be left to weather for about six months in order that the paint would stick.
