East Linton in Bloom has been awarded a Silver Gilt Medal for 2011.

"A high standard has been achieved which meets the judging criteria and objectives of Beautiful Scotland, including sections of exceptionally high standards."

Many thanks and well done to everyone for all the work they have put in over the year to make East Linton look so good. Our results are shown below:

Last year for Horticulture we received 75 points. This year, 79
Last year for the environment   40 points. This year 43.
Last year for Community participation  39 points This year 44
Total last year 154 out of 200
This year 166 out of 200.
We did well! We needed to get 85% for a gold, so just four points off!

From the Beautiful Scotland website:

"Beautiful Scotland is an environmental campaign in Scotland for communities who are working to improve and enhance their local area. The Beautiful Scotland campaign has been running for over 40 years and until recently was known as "Beautiful Scotland in Bloom".
You can find further information on the It's Your Neighbourhood scheme for beginner groups in the It's Your Neighbourhood section.
Entrants in the Beautiful Scotland campaign compete for prestigious trophies within 11 different categories. These are based on electoral roll population size, ranging from Wee Villages to Cities, and there are additional prizes for outstanding effort in specific areas, such as biodiversity, waste and tourism.
Judges take note of themes such as seasonal and permanent planting, but the awards are not just for the green-fingered. Sustainability, public participation and issues such as litter and graffiti are all taken into consideration. Entrants are also expected to show evidence of activity throughout the seasons.
The campaign is a programme of Keep Scotland Beautiful and is run by an Advisory Group consisting of representatives of entrant groups, judges, and relevant national organisations."
