News from Dunpender Community Council meeting on 1st September At our September meeting we were sorry to hear that Liz Kilpatrick, member from Newbyth, has retired from the Community Council due to family commitments. Liz has worked very hard in her six years as a community councillor and produced our tourist leaflet and postcard as well as being one half of the Dunpender News team. We shall miss her expertise and now are on the lookout for a new member for the coastal area from Auldhame to Ninewar with Brownrigg to the west. A public meeting is to be organised soon to discuss with East Lothian Council any future plans for trees at East Linton Park and also on the grass across from the Community Hall. It will be on a Thursday evening in the Community Hall and the date will be published on our website and on posters. If you can’t come to the meeting, tell us by phoning or writing whether you want to keep the old trees or take them out and finish planting new ones. Serious problems were reported with the First Bus service for pupils at Dunbar Grammar not enough room and children being left behind. A meeting [6th Sept] had been arranged by Cllr Bell to discuss these and other issues with First Bus managers. Other items discussed included: the tumbledown wall up Pencraig Hill; the closure of the Drive Arch road at Whittingehame; suggestions for a name for the new houses at Orchardfield; the muddy footpath from the rail footbridge to East Linton Surgery. Wind turbines are to be discussed by a sub-committee which will include members of Garvald and Morham CC. East Lothian Council has published a Landscape Capacity Study for smaller wind turbines which can be seen on their website. The next Community Council meeting will be on Thursday 6th October at 7.30pm in the Council Chambers, East Linton. Minutes are available as usual in the Library or on our website, http://www.eastlinton.uk.com. Our agenda is prepared one week before the meeting, and if you have something you want to discuss, please notify me or the Secretary in good time. Judith Priest 01620 860380 |
