A little bit of history
The hall was built in 1875 as the Volunteer Drill Hall and purchased for the community in 1963. It has been the centre of East Linton’s social life for well over a hundred years. In 2000 the hall was extensively refurbished with Lottery money and now offers a great venue at a very reasonable price.
The Community Hall today
There are three separate halls available for let plus a bar, kitchen, garden space and toilets including facilities for disabled people. We have 80 place settings of both crockery and cutlery plus a range cooker, urn and refrigerator. All the halls have their own tables and chairs available at no extra charge.
Main Hall
Maximum 150 people, this hall has a polished wooden dance floor marked for badminton. Tables and chairs for 140 are available, but for a dance or party, 100 is a comfortable number. A stage, maximum size 5x3m can be erected at various heights wherever needed and this hall has a bar area, blackout curtains and a PA system. Full access for disabled people.
Small Hall
Maximum 60 people, polished wooden floor. Blackout curtains, garden adjacent plus access to kitchen. Full access for disabled people.
Meeting Room
Maximum 40 people. The meeting room is upstairs [sorry, no disabled access]. It is carpeted, with blackout curtains and upholstered chairs.
A word from the committee
If you live in this area, this is your Hall. We don’t run many fundraisers apart from the Art Show and the 200 Club. By joining the 200 Club you can help keep the cost of lets low and ensure that the Hall is going to be there for future generations. Please take care of the furniture, fixtures and fittings as they all cost a LOT of money.
If you don’t live here, you are very welcome to rent our Hall but please remember that it’s our village hall and we’d like you to look after it as if it were yours.
